Surgical Facility
Our surgical facility was designed by Dr. Bohanon based on years of experience at other equine facilities. It is a large area, representing nearly a third of the equine facility that was completed in 2004. The area includes a padded induction and recovery room, which is equipped for fluid administration, ICU care, and rope-assisted recovery. Once anesthetized, horses are transferred via a motorized hoist into the surgery room and placed on a padded table for the procedure. Our anesthetic monitoring equipment helps ensure stability of the horse throughout the procedure. A wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures can be performed, including emergency colic surgery, arthroscopic joint procedures, and long bone fracture repair. |
