Small Animal Facility

Small Animal Facility

Our small animal clinic is equipped to deal with all of your pet’s general medical and surgical needs. The small animal clinic is an original part of Glenwood Veterinary Clinic and has remained an important part of the practice since 1936.

Examination Area

Two exam rooms accommodate a steady flow of small animal patients throughout the day. Patient examinations and consultations with clients are conducted in these rooms.

Surgical Prep/ Procedure Area/Patient Monitoring Area
An open common area was recently remodeled to provide space for performing dentistry, minor surgical procedures and preparation for anesthesia and major surgery. This area is equipped with kennels for monitoring of post-operative patients, administration of intravenous fluids and intensive care monitoring.

Surgical Facility
Our small animal surgical suite and anesthesia equipment can accommodate a variety of species in all shapes and sizes. Advanced patient monitoring equipment assists with patient safety while under general anesthesia. A variety of elective procedures such as spay and neuter surgeries are performed here as well as more advanced orthopedic procedures such as cruciate ligament repair and long bone fracture repair.

Patient Housing
We have a variety of housing options throughout the clinic to accommodate all sizes of patients. An area of large dog runs is separate from the smaller areas designated for feline patients and smaller dogs. We are equipped for intensive care monitoring when necessary, and our small animal isolation facility allows us to safely and effectively care for pets with contagious diseases without risk to other animals. We do not offer long term boarding at this time.

Laboratory Facility
Our clinic is equipped with a variety of blood analyzers for performing complete blood counts, biochemical profiles and electrolytes. We also perform routine fecal analysis, urinalysis, dermatology scrapings and slides and cytology. GVC utilizes several outside laboratories for complex specimen analysis, with results usually available overnight.

Other Diagnostic Equipment
Digital radiography is available for small animal patients at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic.  These images are highly detailed, and rapidly available for evaluation of bony as well as soft tissue problems.  Digital ultrasound complements Dr. Mease’s clinical skills for evaluation of soft tissues.  All images can be burned to CD for clients to archive in their patient records, or they can be sent electronically for a second opinion from outside experts if indicated.
