Our main treatment and examination area contains 2 ICU stalls for continuous monitoring and treatment of critical care cases such as horses with colic, some fractures, and neonatal foals. IV fluids can be administered at a very rapid rate, if necessary, because of the high ceilings, and the stalls are equipped for the use of CRI (constant rate infusion) pumps to deliver medications continuously. The area is equipped for overnight or 24-hour monitoring, and veterinary technicians are scheduled for emergency overnight and weekend duty if necessary.

We have a controlled-ventilation isolation stall devoted to housing of horses with infectious or potentially infectious diseases. This stall has a separate entrance accessed from a distant area of the property, and our staff is well trained in isolation protocol. The facility is equipped for many procedures that can be performed within the 2-room isolation unit. Rapid one-way access into the area is available from our main treatment area, which also contains a window allowing constant monitoring of isolation patients during daily rounds. |
