Rachael Younger

Rachel Younger is GVC’s newest equine technician. She started at GVC 2 years ago as a volunteer helping around the clinic in any way possible. She was then hired on as part time barn help for horses admitted to the clinic, where she gained invaluable skills as a veterinary assistant. In April of this year she was added to the GVC team as a full-time equine veterinary technician, which she sees as a “dream job”. She is excited every day to arrive at work and be involved with a profession devoted to serving animals (and their people) in a purposeful way. Rachel was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up training and competing in regionally ranked hunter-jumper shows. At age 18 she moved to the Roaring Fork Valley where she attended Colorado Mountain College. Her experience in the valley has been nothing but exciting. She has fallen in love with an assortment of outdoor activities and on any given weekend you may find her rafting, hiking, trail riding, cross country skiing or dog sledding. Rachel lives with her husband, Mike, and their three dogs in Glenwood Springs and they are expecting their first child in January of 2012.
