Dr. Dennis Luedke

Dr. Luedke graduated from veterinary school at Colorado State University in 1983 and completed a year internship at Littleton Large Animal Clinic upon graduation. The next 7 years Dr. Luedke was in a 2-man equine-exclusive ambulatory practice in Mesa, Arizona. This practice was primarily involved in equine reproduction, show horses, and racing quarter horses and thoroughbreds. In 1990 Dr. Luedke took a position at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic and he became an owner in 1993. Dr. Luedke is currently the senior partner at GVC.

Dr. Luedke grew up in the Denver area. He was exposed to veterinary medicine at an early age as his father was a veterinarian and virologist and worked in arthropod-borne disease research. In veterinary school his efforts were concentrated on large animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Luedke practices as an ambulatory and hospital clinician with approximately 60% of his case load being on farm calls. His primary interests in practice are equine reproduction, lameness, podiatry, and emergency medicine. Dr. Luedke is involved in our VMG, (Veterinary Management Group) which is an organization devoted to helping veterinarians become better practice managers.

Dr. Luedke met his wife, Gina, in veterinary school and has been married since 1983. He has 2 wonderful children who are the center of his life. Bret, his oldest son, graduated from veterinary school at Colorado State University in 2011, and is currently an intern at the prestigious Idaho Equine Hospital in Nampa, Idaho. Lauren carries on the family tradition in veterinary medicine as a veterinary student at Colorado State University. The Luedke clan is involved with horse activities with their spare time. Both Gina and Lauren compete in reined horse events. Dad and Bret enjoy horse pack trips and hunting and fishing. The rest of the Luedke time is devoted to maintaining their 10 acre farm in Silt, Colorado. Dr. Luedke enjoys the practice of veterinary medicine and considers it an honor and a privilege to be able to work in this profession every day.

Dr. Rocky Mease

Rocky Mease is a Grand Junction, Colorado native where many of his family still live. He and his wife Terri have been married for over twenty-five years. After graduating from Fruit Monument High School he worked in the construction industry as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for 15 years, and satisfied his pre-veterinary requirements at Mesa State College in Grand Junction while continuing to work as a mechanic. He earned his doctorate of veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 2001. After graduation he had a brief lapse of consciousness and moved to Twenty-Nine Palms, California for a year and a half. After coming to his senses he returned to Colorado in 2002 to work at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Mease practices small animal medicine and surgery and enjoy helping all of his furry patients.

In his spare time you can find him either working on or playing with his Jeep Commando. Keep an eye out for him if you are out on the trail. He also enjoys his small herd of registered Dexter cattle. Don’t ask about the little cows or he will likely talk about them for hours, and you may end up owning one by the end of the conversation.

Dr. Thomas Bohanon

Dr. Bohanon grew up on a large cattle ranch in Montana, where he developed a life-long love of horses that significantly influenced his career choice in equine veterinary medicine. Bo graduated from veterinary school at Colorado State University in 1982. He was accepted as the intern at Littleton Large Animal Clinic after graduation, and remained there an additional 4 years as a general equine practitioner. He was accepted into a combined 3-year equine surgical residency and Masters Program at the Ohio State University in 1987, completed the residency in 1990, and was board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1992.  Dr. Bohanon and his wife, Libby, have been married since 1982, and have 2 children who are their pride and joy: Angus, born in 1988, and Kelsey, born in 1992.

Dr. Bohanon returned to Littleton Large Animal Clinic in 1990, and was the surgeon on staff there until 1997. Compelled to follow the road less travelled,  in 1998 the Bohanon family moved aboard a 46 foot catamaran. Over the next 5 years, Bo, Libby, Angus, and Kelsey sailed the across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea to Turkey, and from the Caribbean Sea across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand. While in the Med, Dr. Bohanon accepted a one-year position as an equine surgeon at Centro Medico Equino, a 13 person equine practice near Venice, Italy.

In 2003, Dr. Bohanon and his family returned to the USA, where he accepted a position as equine surgeon at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Bohanon, along with Dr. Mease, became a full partner at GVC in 2005. Dr. Bohanon’s professional interests center around lameness evaluation and all types of equine surgery. He has published multiple papers in refereed journals and spoken locally, nationally, and internationally on these interests and his research.

Bo’s passion for the outdoors and adventure continue, and he can be found (or not found, as the case may be) rock and ice climbing, telemark skiing, mountaineering, or camping with Libby and the kids when away from the clinic.  With Dr. Everett’s arrival at GVC, Bo and Libby plan to get away for more sailing adventures on their recently purchased Corsair f-28 trimaran.

Dr. Eric Everett

Dr. Everett is excited to rejoin GVC after completing a 3-year  equine surgical residency at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, part of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Leesburg, Virginia.  This combined  surgical residency and Masters Program provided intensive training and experience in all aspects of equine surgery.  Dr. Everett is looking forward to providing specialized care to the equine community served by GVC and to getting to know the clients, horses, and referring veterinarians he served during his internship from 2007-2008.  In addition to surgery, he is certified in equine acupuncture and is particularly interested lameness diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Everett began working with horses during his childhood in northeastern Colorado on his family’s farm.  After graduating from the University of Denver in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Biology, he completed a Master of Science degree in Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming in 2003.  His research focused on the interrelationships between endangered prairie mammals and might have led him into a career in wildlife biology.  However, Dr. Everett became more and more interested in veterinary medicine and attended Colorado State University, graduating in 2007 with his DVM degree.  Dr. Everett has conducted independent research in many areas, from wildlife biology to new surgical suture patterns in horses, has authored peer reviewed scientific literature, and been an invited speaker at regional and national conferences in the field of equine surgery.

Dr. Everett enjoys spending his free time with his wife Julie, and son Hayden, engaged in nearly any outdoor pursuit.  He is an avid mountain biker, tele skier, kayaker, rafter, and climber, and is looking forward to raising his family is this wonderful mountain community.
