Dr. Douglas Coffman
Dr. Coffman has been a well-liked, familiar face as a large animal vet and partner at GVC since 1982. In May of 2008, Dr. Coffman retired from veterinary medicine. Dr. Coffman is enjoying spending more time with his wife Julie and family. They enjoy working on their home, traveling and spending lots of time at their second home in Mexico. We wish Dr. Coffman all the best in the years to come and miss his smiling face around the clinic.
Dr. Brad Johnson
Dr. Johnson was GVC’s first intern in 2005. Brad is a graduate of Kansas State University and came to GVC in July 2005. He completed a one year internship and moved home to Nebraska where he works at a mixed practice in Creighton, Nebraska and lives with his wife Shelley.
Dr. Gail MacKinlay
Dr. MacKinlay was GVC’s fourth intern and the first from overseas. Gail graduated from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and came to GVC in July 2008. After completion of her year-long internship, Gail accepted a position with an equine practice in Northern England.
Dr. Brooke Martin
Dr. Martin was GVC’s fifth intern, from July 2009 to July 2010. She is a graduate of Kansas State University. Brooke and her son Mason were a wonderful addition to our practice throughout their year. She is currently working at Brisbane Veterinary Services near Kansas City, Missouri as a mixed animal associate. We wish her the best of luck in her new position!
Dr. Lindsay Helvey
Dr. Lindsay Helvey, our 2010/2011 intern, graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in May 2010. Prior to and during the first two years of veterinary school she called Glenwood Springs home. She and her husband, Bryant, moved to Colorado for his work and fell in love with all the outdoor activities the state has to offer. She grew up on a small farm in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California, raising many different animals. It was through taking care of an injured horse named “Little Man” that she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR prior to vet school. Lindsay enjoys all aspects of general practice,but she has a special interest in equine surgery and lameness. She and her husband are major animal lovers with the start of a small farm at their home in Washington. Lindsay enjoys hiking, backpacking, sports, cooking and making anything from scratch.
Dr. Angie Bolger; Aka Dr. Angie Hill
Dr. Bolger is our most recent alumna. She first came to GVC as a veterinary student and returned in July 2006 after graduation to become an intern at GVC. Following completion of her internship, she accepted a position at Moore and Company Veterinary Services in Calgary, Alberta, Canada’s largest equine clinic. She returned to GVC in May 2008 as an associate. In 2011, Dr. Bolger accepted a position in September of 2011, Dr. Bolger accepted a position about 2 hours north of Toronto, Ontario starting a new equine practice. Dr. Bolger and her partner hope to grow the practice over the coming years into a full-service equine hospital, with specialists in both medicine and surgery. We miss her enthusiasm and high quality patient care, and wish her the best in this exciting endeavour.
