Examination Facility
When GVC started in 1936, it was predominantly a food animal clinic, and we have not forgotten those roots. We are equipped with a secure, gated area where cattle can be unloaded and pushed into a restraint chute. Cattle can be safely examined in this area, as well as restrained for a variety of medical and surgical procedures, including pregnancy diagnosis and caesarian section surgeries. The food animal exam and treatment area was upgraded in 2003, and provides a warm, safe, and secure area for most procedures.
Our common large animal exam room is also utilized for examination of calves and other smaller species of livestock such as sheep and goats. A padded tilt table/exam stocks are used for safe restraint of camelids (llamas and alpacas) for examination and procedures. The tilt table can also be used to restrain cattle for foot trimming.
